Don't Forget The Red Cross Nurses
There's a mother's heart that's yearning
For her soldier boy's returning
Though it's may miles across the deep blue sea,
To her darling boy who fights for Liberty
Now she's writing him a letter
Says she's knitting socks and sweater
If he's wounded in the fight,
there's a Red Cross girl in white,
Who will do her best to save the soldier boy.
Tho' they're not right in the fighting,
Not a soldier are they slighting,
They are helping all our boys,
turning sorrows into joys,
We must help them all we can
If in this we should be lacking
Then they'll know that we've been slacking
So you must open up your heart,
Get right in and do your part,
And don't forget the Red Cross nurses.
Here's a fact you should be knowing
We must keep this good work going
If you want our boys to beat the Kaiser down,
Help them all you can to get to Berlin Town.
The Yankee soldier is a dandy
At sharp shooting he is handy
When this bloody war is o'er,
and the fighting is no more,
They'll come sailing back to good old U.S.A.
Tho' they're not right in the fighting,
Not a soldier are they slighting,
They are helping all our boys,
turning sorrows into joys,
We must help them all we can
If in this we should be lacking
Then they'll know that we've been slacking
So you must open up your heart,
Get right in and do your part,
And don't forget the Red Cross nurses.
