A Red Cross Volunteer

You have heard of Europe's war,
And soldiers who fell there;
With none to ease their suff'ring,
Without a loved one's care;
That is why I'm going to be,
A neutral in that sphere;
At duty's call, in line I'll fall,
A Red Cross Volunteer.

For I'm a Red Cross Volunteer,
I'm a Red Cross Volunteer;
For shot and shell I have no fear,
While those brave lads lie helpless there,
And in the midst of that great fight,
I'll nurse those heroes day and night;
For blood-stained fields can never scare,
A Red Cross Volunteer.

So when I am on the scene,
My duties I will do;
With burstine shells around me,
I'll help both friend and foe;
I will always be on hand,
To give first aid and cheer;
Amidst the fray, both night and day,
A red Cross Volunteer.

For I'm a Red Cross Volunteer,
I'm a Red Cross Volunteer;
For shot and shell I have no fear,
While those brave lads lie helpless there,
And in the midst of that great fight,
I'll nurse those heroes day and night;
For blood-stained fields can never scare,
A Red Cross Volunteer.
